Seeds of Hate

As Christians, we are taught to love others as ourselves, forgive those who persecute us, pray for them, and walk in the light of God’s Word. As in the time of the Egyptians when they were being brought out of bondage and into the Promised Land. Leaving the oppressive land and abuse did not mean they would be free of its negative influence. False pagan worship was everywhere, and evil was still present in the world. God promised if they would rely on Him and not rebel against His Word, then they would be protected and prosper. 

We only need to look at Exodus 23:1-9, Exodus 22:21, and Exodus 23:20-33 to see what God’s Word says about everything. Despite the laws, the Ten Commandments, and the Great Commandments, evil persists even today. The question plaguing all of us today is this one. How do we live in such a dark world and not conform to the ways of the darkness? 

Environment molds and shapes us, as in the days of slavery, both with the Egyptians and in the slavery of today that permeates society. The poor are still oppressed by the rich, and the hatred of racism still permeates the hearts of so many who endured those atrocious times. 

Hate breeds hate. Seeds of hate planted in us by parents who also had seeds of hate sown into them by their parents. Generation after generation hating on others, pouring out confusion and strife instead of peace and joy as God’s Word tells us. 

We can leave an environment of hate, hateful words, or actions by another, but how do we let go of the residue of hate that sprouted up in our hearts, actions, and deeds and threatens to infect another generation? 

How do you let go of the pain, sorrow, grief, regret, and anger attached to hate crimes? Racism? Marginalization? How do you guard your heart against the pollution of this world and sow seeds of hope, joy, and peace despite your history of being persecuted, exploited, victimized, and bullied?

 How do we get Egypt (captivity) out of the people ( seek freedom)? This is the question because to serve God in the capacity He seeks and cultivate a garden of hope and healing, we must have a purified heart, purged of inequity and hate. 

The True Gospel speaks of love, mercy, and loving thy neighbor as thyself. We, after all, are all foreigners, immigrants, and bound under the law of Moses.

Hello, I am Tammy Toney-Butler. Welcome to our Reflective Hour. We all know who hosts this Reflective Hour, and that's the Holy Spirit, Christ. For it is His message that I want to portray, and if I get you to see Him and His goodness, then I've done my job. So, let's dive in today.

I want you to grab your coffee, grab your tea, and get in the same cozy, comfortable place. Let's process together. He has a Word for you.

Holy Spirit, I ask You to come. I ask Your presence and Your peace to flow. This cannot be about me. This can only be about You. This is a little bit of a difficult Reflective Hour for me to do. I'm quite uncomfortable actually. Therefore, I know it's You doing something.

Holy Spirit, come and help me that I give them Your truth and not my own. May they have eyes to see what You want them to see. May any veil be lifted off. Any generational curse be broken in the name of Jesus.

As Christians, we are taught to love others as ourselves. Forgive those who persecute us. Walk in the Light and not the dark. We often take matters into our own hands. We struggle. We repeat the sins of the past. We act out of hate, anger, lust, greed, and we don't follow God. We must turn back and follow God, just as the Israelites needed to do when they came out of Egypt.

We must follow the Light, God's will, His commandments, and His truth, for He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

When we follow Him, His strength brings us through, trial after trial, struggle after struggle. He leads us beside still waters, calms us, protects us, nourishes us, and gives us manna to eat when needed. He is our everything. So, let's bring Him into this as we process what He needs us to process now, in this time in history, so that we can move forward into Kingdom purpose and protection.

We can repent and turn as a nation, as a world, and come back to Him like He wanted them to do when they came out of Egypt. And yet they chose idol worship, set up altars, and did not trust Him. They did not follow His great commandments. They did not follow the Light. Instead, they chose the dark. Judgment soon came to their door.

There were many plagues when Pharaoh did not follow what God had asked him to do through his messengers, Moses and Aaron. Trouble came to their door. We must ensure that the hedge of protection is not lifted from us. We must seek Christ. We must break free of generational trauma, generational hate, generational ties to the past, soul ties that leave us barren and broken, bearers of darkness instead of the light. Our souls are deprived of the light. Our heart is full of murk and mire, waste, and residue from past bondage and hate.

We can't carry that with us where He's taking us now.

Let's just let it all go. Can you release it with me today?

As the Egyptians came out of captivity and bondage, I'm calling you out today to break free from the chains of the past. The lies of the past. The hurt of the past.  I know many of you were persecuted. Many of you were broken. 

Many of you were broken beyond repair in your eyes, but that's not true in Mine. That's what He's saying. That's not true in the eyes of Christ, God-Abba Father. He is a Father that will never leave you, never forsake you. Who loves and meets you where you are. Amid your circumstances. Amid your trials and tribulations.

He will be with you as He'll be with us. He is with us as we weather these difficult times together, as a nation, as a world, as a community, as parents, caretakers, caregivers, sowers of the seed, protectors of the Word, the true gospel.

What words are we sowing? What seeds are we sowing?

Seeds of discord and hate, bred by pathways from the residue of trauma and trials of the past. The residue left behind by racism, marginalization, hate, and oppressiveness.

Am I calling you to carry that or did I not die on the Cross so you could be set free? That's what I'm saying to you.

Jesus died on the Cross, so you don't have to carry it. You don't have to carry those seeds of hate that you picked up from your parents and they picked up from their parents and their parents.

It was not that long ago that darkness came to the door. So many were lynched and hurt, beaten, and tortured, and that darkness invades us now as a society.

God's children, My children, He's saying, are being persecuted, abused, trafficked, hurt, sold.

Even the ones who are coming to our door for protection are being turned away, cast out, victimized, and hated.

Where does it say in His Word that we are to hate?

We are to pray for those who persecute us. We are to pray for those who wrong us.

Where in the Word of God does it speak of racism and oppression to another?

Does not the mere Cross bear witness to the Truth that we are bearers of the Light, set free by the Blood of Calvary? Where it washed us clean of shame, of guilt, of fear, of regret, of self-loathing, of hatred, of evil.

We cannot pour the pure gospel through a polluted heart with seeds sown from arteries of hate.

We must forge a new pathway forward, be bearers of the Truth and the Light, for we are entering into dark days.

Dark days have been a part of our history, as evidenced by the civil rights movement, women's rights, and many others.

We have to put all that aside. We must ask ourselves, how do we bring the unity and love of Christ to a dark, dying world? How do we sow seeds of hope, joy, and love instead of discord, oppression, or hate?

Since when do we look to a political party to define ourselves as Christians?

Where is that in the Bible?

Where is it in God's Word? Whatever version you're looking at, the New International Version, Tree of Life Version, or the King James Version?

When I look at Exodus 23: 1-9, Exodus 22:21, and Exodus 23: 20-33 to see what God's Word says about it all this is what I find.

1: “Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness.

2: “Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd,

 3: do not show favoritism to a poor person in a lawsuit.

4: “If you come across your enemy’s ox or donkey wandering off, be sure to return it.

5: If you see the donkey of someone who hates you fallen down under its load, do not leave it there; be sure you help them with it.

6: “Do not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits.

 7: Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty.

8: “Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the innocent.

9: “Do not oppress a foreigner; you yourselves know how it feels to be foreigners, because you were foreigners in Egypt.

 22: If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.

23: My angel will go ahead of you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites and Jebusites, and I will wipe them out.

31: “I will establish your borders from the Red Sea[a] to the Mediterranean Sea,[b] and from the desert to the Euphrates River. I will give into your hands the people who live in the land, and you will drive them out before you.

32: Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods.

 33: Do not let them live in your land or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you.”

I watched a movie and, again, it greatly affected me last night. And I want us to recognize the plight of others but also recognize we can't carry the past with us. It affects us. It affects our health. It affects our well-being. I know because it affected mine. It affected who I was, who Christ had called me to be. 

I chose freedom. I chose to leave that little girl on the grounds of Ave Maria, that little girl that was inside of me that I couldn't protect, that was raped, tortured, suffered such horrific verbal, physical abuse, betrayal, abandonment, so much. 

I could not move into who God had called me to be if I took her with me. 

And that's what He's saying to you today. Can you leave that little girl, that little boy behind? Can you lay them at the foot of the Cross? Can you give them to God? Can you give them to me? I'll bring them to my ranch, where so many little girls and boys walk free.

You need to let go of all of it. You cannot change the past or people's hearts, but you can save yours. 

Do not become hardened. Do not have a heart full of hate that refuses to repent and turn back to God and righteous living, to the pure, true gospel we need today more than ever. 

We must hear the Whisper of the Holy Spirit, His voice like never before. Have Him guide and order every one of our steps for there is an urgency to the hour as set about by the circumstances that we find ourselves in today: Natural disasters, man-made disasters, mass casualty events, shootings, global sex trafficking, human trafficking, labor trafficking, and the global mistreatment of God's children. 

Judgment will come to your door. Make sure that the Blood of the Lamb is covering that door so that you'll be protected.

Break free into who He's called you to be because if you don't, and you live in the darkness, and you live chained to the past, the oppressor wins, the abuser wins, the predator wins. Evil wins, satan wins, but when we break free with the power of our testimony and what God's done in our life when we get set free and renewed as in my case, then goodness prevails. 

Seek goodness. Seek the truth. Seek the Holy Spirit. Lord Jesus.

Walk in His peace this day, His protection for you, your family, and generations to come.
