Welcome to today's episode of Reflective Hour with Tammy Toney-Butler. I'm your host and healing evangelist. But we all know who the host of this show is, and that's Christ. Holy Spirit, come have your way in this time that we have together. May they see you and not me, hear you and not me, glean from you, oh God, from your truth. May they cultivate
words that they're going to take with them and grow into a tree of life on their inner man. in their inner man. May they bear much fruit for the kingdom of God as they enter into a place of total surrender.
Surrendering for your will for their lives and not their own.
Even though the path looks different than they anticipated, they must trust you. that you're going to take them into the promised land.
One second at a time, you'll direct their steps and guide them along paths of righteousness for your name's sake. You're a good father, Adonai. You love us. You watch over us. and you send us people to speak life into the areas of darkness that still remain. And even though we think we've been completely cleaned, sometimes there's a little residue left of the old self. So I thank you, Father, that you've brushed this house clean, that you've washed us clean by the blood of Jesus, set us free as we enter into wholeness in you, in Christ Jesus. Glory be to Jesus. Glory be to Jesus. Glory be to Jesus. Amen. Today, let's talk about surrender. Let's talk about surrender. When we look at the New Living Translation and we look at Luke 17 and we start on 32, well, we'll start around 31. That's Luke 17:31. On that day, a person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack. A person out in the field must not return home. Remember what happened to Lot's wife? If you cling to your life, you will lose it. And if you let your life go, you will save it. That night, two people will be asleep in one bed. One will be taken, the other left. Two women will be grinding flour together at the meal. One will be taken, the other left. Where will this happen, Lord? The disciples asked. Jesus replied. Just as the gathering of vultures shows there is a carcass nearby, so these signs indicate that the end is near. Let's focus in on that. If you cling to your life, you'll lose it. And if you let your life go, you'll save it. How many of us refuse to surrender what God has called us to let go of? How many of us are carrying things or asking others to carry things that we refuse to surrender?
Jesus died so we could have abundant life. We don't have to walk in darkness. We don't have to walk in shame or fear or guilt or regret. None of those things are our portion. Healing is our portion. But how many of us refuse to let God heal those broken areas in our life that need just one touch from God? Like the woman with the issue of blood, if I could just touch the hem of his garment, I'll be healed. Just a touch. How many of you need a touch from God? Just a touch.
How many of you are struggling, wondering how you're going to pay the bills, wanting to force an outcome, chart your own course, make your own way? How many of you are truly surrendered to an obedient state
as you seek me with your whole heart? How many of you have truly let go? Have truly said, "I'm 100% surrendered. Not my will, but yours be done, God." But not just say it, walking in it. How many of you are trying to manipulate an outcome, make something happen, make yourself be brought out on a platform or on a stage for your own glory? How many of you are waiting on God's perfect timing where he says, "It's time now, child, to make you known to the world." Because when they see you, they're going to see me. When they hear you, they're going to know that it's me and they're going to know Jesus. Jesus. But how many of you are surrendering to the process to be shepherd, to be guided? How many of you have joined a church and made it your home? How many of you have come under the authority and submitted to the authority of the leader of that church of that body
as you follow that undersheperd with the shepherd being Jesus? How many of you are doing that? How many of you have actually said, "You know what? God's going to plant me now. I'm ready. I'm ready to submit to authority. I'm ready to be instructed. I'm teachable. I'm ready to to grasp more, to learn more, and to glean from the man of God or the woman of God that God has placed me in their path. How many of you can surrender to that level and say, "Nevertheless, not my will be done, Lord, but yours." How many of you can do that? How many of you can come under the disciplehip of someone else? Maybe someone who's younger than you. Maybe someone who's less experienced than you or you perceive. But maybe that particular someone that God has placed in your path for that season is your destiny helper. The one that is going to get you and guide you to the place where God needs you to be to receive all that has been promised to you. that you you refuse to surrender to authority and come under the protection under the shephering of a steward of God's house. How many of you How many of you? How many of you I tell you what until this very week or the weekend I had not surrendered fully. I had not gone into a place of worship and decided to make it my home. The Holy Spirit had not led me to do that. Had not led me to do that. And I wasn't sure why. In my own mind, in my own intellect, I could say, "Well, it was this reason or that reason or or I could say, well, there maybe there was something wrong with that congregation or maybe that congregation. It just wasn't the right fit." But what I had to do was take a hard look inside of me and say, "What is it in me that I still haven't surrendered? What is it in me that's keeping me from allowing a mighty man of God to shepherd and disciple me to carry me in this season under his protective wing until God is truly ready to launch me into all he's called me to be. God sends people along our path to help us, to protect us, to save us from us. But do we receive them? Do we say, "Oh, God, I see what you're doing here. Purge me of me. Purge me of me." Or does pride keep us from it? Does ego? Or is it something that's so simple that we have such a a pure heart that we don't even understand how our actions could be influencing a body of believers because we've never been raised up in a church. We've never been planted long enough for anyone to pour into us because maybe we had church hurt. Maybe we were a part of a a a congregation at one time, you know, in our youth, but the bad memories kept us from forming an alliance with another body of believers.
How many of us have truly submitted to the process of discipleship
coming under the toutelage of others? I've had to learn to surrender as I've formed a strategic partnership with two girls in a Bible. God brought me to their path. It was a divine meeting. And I knew in that moment that we were to team up for whatever God has coming. Even though I don't have a clue what that looks like, I trust that he has brought them into my life and this season. And Pastor Branson of the Well Church, which I have made my church home in Fort Myers, Florida off of Pondello. I've made that my church home. Now, what does that look like? Have no idea. Don't know. But I know that I'm going to be humble and serve and seek and glean wisdom from the fields of Jennifer and Kim and Pastor Branson and his team at the well church. Because it's time, you see, it's time I stop running. It's time I 100% surrender and say, "Okay, God, you're the master potter and I'm the clay. Am I supposed to tell you, the the the God of creation, how things are going to go? Am I supposed to tell you how to shape and mold me in a process where I think in the way I think it should be? Or am I maybe to renounce a little pride and say, "You know what, God? I'm sorry. I repent. Get me out of me. Help me to stop sab self-sabotaging. Help me to surrender and come under the toutelage of these mighty men and women of God with pure hearts with which you've called me to glean from their fields. because we are a team. We're united, a collective body under one head, which is Jesus Christ. And there is never a time as there is now that we must be united. We must be united. We must be united. We must be united because a house divided against itself cannot stand. It can't stand. And we have too much to do, too many lost souls to get into the kingdom of God for me to want to force an outcome or try to put myself out there or or put myself on a platform until God is ready. And that's what he's saying to you. He's saying, "Are you sure you're ready? Are you sure you're ready to be on that platform? Are you sure that that's his will for you? Or is he calling you to be quiet for a season and pull back and do some more inner healing before you expose yourself to the gazes of others? Sit with that because that's a word for someone. Sit with that. Sit with that because he has been molding me and shaping me for over 13 years now. Probably going on 14. I don't want to, you know, I I don't I'd have to look at my um journals to to tell you exactly and pinpoint the date, but it's been at least that long. And he has been getting stuff out of my trunk and getting me ready, getting me ready to join a team like two girls in a Bible uh in our strategic partnership with me, me having reflective spaces ministry, me joining a team like at the well church and saying, "You know what, pastor? I want to serve you. I'll do whatever you need me to do. You want me to clean toilets, I'll clean toilets. Y'all know I've been out there cleaning the pasture, the Lord has humbled me by giving me this ranch and and and me going out there and and caring for all the animals. And just when I would think, you know, I was, oh well, you know, I'm not going to do that anymore. Sure enough, the Lord humbled me again and say, go on out there. and he'd send my husband out of town and I'd have to get out there and do it because I'm to serve God by way of his Holy Spirit. I'm to have an obedient surrendered heart walking in tandem with him and bringing his truth, his light to a dark and dying world. And if I won't even surrender to the process and come under the toutelage of a mighty man of God or a mighty woman of God or mighty men and women of God, then how in the world am I going to submit totally to him
and go where he's sending me to go? Because we have to go as a team. Where two or three are gathered in my name, there shall I be. And we know where there's two witnesses, things are established. We aren't called to work in silos. We aren't called to do it alone. Yes, there's times that he has me isolate and get alone with him. I call that daddy daughter time. And I love it. I love it. I had a dear friend of mine say, "Yeah, I was dating Jesus for about a year. Me and Jesus. We went everywhere. It was me and Jesus." And there's times that that's that's what he's calling you to do. But then there's other times he's saying, "No, it's time you learn how to partner. Be a part of a team. Yield to what the spirit's doing. Let someone else take the platform. When it's your time, he's going to rise you up. But don't force an outcome. Just let the spirit flow freely as we flow in union together. What a beautiful symphony
of souls that we will win into the kingdom when we submit and surrender to Jesus, to his holy spirit, the spirit of Christ that's in us. And that's today's episode of Reflective Hour with Tammy Tony Butler. It's called Surrender. And I ask you this question. He's asking you this question before we close. Is there anything that you have refused to surrender to Jesus to the cross? Is there anything you're carrying that you don't need to be carrying any longer? Because he died on Calvary, rose again so that we can be set free walking in whole wholeness, complete peace and joy no matter our circumstances because we know who our God is. We know who's Lord and Savior of our life. So sit with it. Look inward as I've done. Take a walk and see if there's anything you need to surrender. Take a spiritual inventory. Be honest. And ask him. Ask him where you need to go. Ask him what church you need to join. Ask him who should be your undersheperd. Because that church may not be right for you. The one that's right down the road. He may not have called you to surrender to that church and come under the leadership of that individual because maybe what they had to say uh maybe the meat of the word that they had to give you, you wouldn't be able to digest it that way because maybe the way they do it is a little different.
But you're going to know when you reach the place of surrender and where you need to surrender and where you need to glean from their field and eat that meat, digest that food so that you can be satisfied. You're going to know what that looks like and who that looks like. But the question is going to be number one, will you see it? Number two, will you acknowledge it? Number three, will you let the process happen? Will you let it happen? Will you let go of everything you thought something should look like or the way something should be and just let God just let God be God? Will you get yourself off the throne and let God be on the throne? Let Lord Jesus be there. That's what he's asking you today. That's what he's asking you today. Glory be to Jesus.
